Wisdom Teeth?

Someone explain to me why they are called wisdom teeth? Nothing wise about a set of lazy molars that do more harm than good and are painful from the start if you ask me.

Day 2 after having all 4 removed and I must say, I am doing far better than I thought I would be. I am in pain though, my jaw refuses to open completely, eating is not happening for me, I'm dizzy and nauseous, sleeping a lot, and still look like a chipmunk. I literally fell asleep 3 times while trying to eat my oatmeal this morning. haha it was a lot of work to take tiny bites and eat slowly...doubt I will ever experience sleeping while eating again. I'm still having occasional bleeding, I also managed to bust one stitch while talking (which is hard to do and anyone who knows me now has permission to laugh at the thought of me not being able to talk). It's been interesting to say the least.

Popsicles and bags of frozen veggies are my new best friends. As soon as I got home and settled in bed, Gus was immediately at my side, it was cute, he walked up and down the bed and then laid on top of me like on guard duty. Evan came in to check on me and Gus grumbled at him haha. Evan just laughed and said I was obviously being taken care of. He then came and laid next to my face and gave me occasional kisses on my cheek and nose, like he knew I wasn't feeling good (Gus, not Evan). When I woke up a few hours later, he was gone and Paris was beside me...such sweethearts, all worried over mom.

Evan has done pretty good with taking care of Avery, I've had minimal interruptions while sleeping the majority of the day away. I still feel guilty though, Mommy's are just not allowed to be out of order! Yesterday Avery kept wanting to touch my face and pat my jaw because of how bad I looked, today however as she plopped on the bed and told me to "WAKE UP NOW" she tilted her head as she gave me a look over and said "Mommy, you look better!" and then told me "Good Job". :)

Evan is having 2 removed on the 12th and as most guys, will be a big whiny baby, so I'm now bracing myself for this.

Now I'm about to enjoy another Popsicle, plop on the couch and start an office marathon (Season 1&2) with Evan. YAY.

Thanks to some of my sweet friends for calling and checking in on me, very sweet.

  1. I enjoy any excuse to eat nothing but pudding, ice cream, and popsicles.

Here's to a speedy recovery, though! You are blessed to have such a good support team at Casa Hartfield.

  2. I have impacted wisdom teeth and I am SO scared to have them removed!

I love LOVE the mental picture of you repeatedly falling asleep while trying to eat oatmeal.

  3. haha, happy to make you smile. Evan thought it was pretty funny too. He's getting both on his left side out on friday so I guess I'm about to see how I was. Although, I had to get just a local antestic, he will be knocked out entirely!!! Lucky...
