Sometimes a song just hits you.

I heard this song for the very first time last week while trying to pack a house up by myself to be ready for a move we really are doing on faith and freaking out if Evan got a call back he desperately needed and it literally brought me to tears once the lyrics sunk in.

This song just sums up where Evan and I have been the last month. It's been rough, more scary than stressful and we let it slip between us a few times and allowed it to get the better of us but...we're still fighting together to get back on our feet and to just go where God is leading us.

I've heard this song 3 times in the last two days and every time was when I was having a low moment. Just goes to show that God answers us in so many unique ways that it's just hard to not see the answers. Especially when a song seems to have been written from a fly on your own wall so to speak..

What a difference a week makes.

Randomness is Bliss.

During Bath Time Tonight:

Avery: I swim in pool?
Evan: You're in the tub though.
Avery: *loud fart* OH! Bubble Bath!!!!!!!!
Evan: I hope your mommy didn't teach you that!

LOL.

(and no, I most certainly did NOT teach her that, I always say "excuse you" when she toots)

2 DAYS UNTIL WE MOVE TO DENTON!!!!

I still have a lot to do! Pray for me sweet friends.

This Girl Cracks Me Up.

I swear, sometimes I just don't know where she gets it from.

Me: Are you all clean?
A: Oh  YES! I no clean, I Squeaky!
Me: You mean you're squeaky clean?
A: Oh, Okay! I smell?
Me: I hope not, you're in the tub, silly.
A: Smell like Daddy? Ewwwwwwww.
Me: You say so, toots. *giggle*
A: Smell like mommy? Mmmmmmm.
Me: Thank You!
A: You welcome! I Smell?
Me: Like what?
A: AVERY...so smell....silly!
Me: You smell Silly?
Avery: Squeaky Silly!

Smelling Silly in the tub.

I also got a short video of our bath time last night, it's super short but you can clearly see her doing her "Ewwww" face and then playing in the bubbles.

*Warning, Naked Toddler in Video!*

Enjoy this wonderful weather (Texans) this weekend!

Cause I'm almost there.....

Avery and I watched the Pincess and the Frog tonight and now I have the music stuck in my head..hence the entry title. Needless to say I also abandoned ship on the whole picture challenge. Life is just too Crazy right now to do it and it didn't seem to appeal to anyone at all so why do it?!

When I say life is crazy right now, I mean life is CAH-RAZY. Blissfully so I should add but it's making time fly by and that's something we don't have a lot of around here! Evan started a job and then ended it by day 1 of orientation....let's just say he was duped. He applied for a "Customer Relations" position with a company in Lake Dallas, he interviewed with HR, passed a background check and was excited to start orientation only to go in and find out it had NOTHING to do with "Customer Relations" nor did it even have anything to do with the company he applied with! It was a bogus vacuum sales company that sold $2500 vacuum cleaners door to door!

It wasn't a happy Evan that day.

He is awaiting a call from Peterbuilt though for a final interview with management. He's already applied, done the logistics test, the mechanical assessment test and now just awaits the final interview to see if they want to hire him on. (Pray for Evan that he gets this job, please!) In the meantime, he is doing pretty much the same thing he'd be doing at peterbuilt for a church friends company. It's the same shift hours too so he's working 4pm-12:30am in Denton. So far it's been the last 4 nights and Avery and I didn't see him for 3 days. Night time routine has been rough since daddy was the one who put Avery down and not mommy and Avery is not liking the change. I guess I don't read her books the way daddy does but we're slowly figuring it out together. :)

I on the other hand, have been split between Denton and Fort Worth (We only have one car right now too, so it's been a mess). I have about 60% of the house packed up with the kitchen, garage our clothes and furniture left plus the house to clean and all by the 3rd of March. We're getting a storage unit this week and should be moving stuff into it when we can. I feel almost overwhelmed, I never knew that little house could have so much "junk" and I warned Evan we have donated a ton of stuff that I just refuse to pack and bring with us to Denton in our new place. Add doing it all alone with Avery running around and you got one frazzled momma. I think Avery understands though because by day two she was helping me sort through stuff and tape up boxes and even going through her toys and saying "byebyes" to a few on her own free will. (so wish I had videotaped it, it was such a precious moment watching her tell her old stuffed animals byebye as she herself put them in the donation box)
And as far as a new place...we still don't have one. With Evan not having a job right now there's no way we can sign a lease to an apartment or house. So...we'll be moving in with his parents temporarily until he gets a job, the kittos (which breaks my heart) will be boarded and we'll be living from our suitcases for a bit.

So that's our life at the moment. Evans working hard to keep us afloat, while I'm getting the house boxed up and ready to move all the while balancing Denton and Fort Worth in equal amounts of time. I may be MIA from blog-world for a week or two when it gets down to crunch time.

Please pray for us. Pray that God puts Evan where he needs to be job wise, Pray that our move goes smoothly and our landlord is fair with our deposit, Pray that the perfect new home in Denton is getting ready for us to make a home in and pray for our patience as we haven't gotten to see each other that much for the next 2 weeks. (lots of trusting going on)

Hope you all had a wonderful Valentine's day. Evan and I are not big fans of this day and don't make a habit of celebrating it but we did take Avery to lunch today and Evan  bought  her a HELLO KITTY doll so she was a happy girl. Her poor allergies are attacking her today and she's had a nasty cough and runny nose so we couldn't go to the park and it took me over 2 hours to get her down tonight since the cough keeps her awake (she's taken benadryl too). Makes me so sad to see her like this, boo to these mommy moments!

Enjoy your week,
Brittnye

Day 8- A picture that makes you laugh

*WARNING* Not for the Squeamish.

Avery was 4 days old, first day home, when daddy went to change a diaper. All I know is I was on the couch in all my "I just had a baby" soreness when I hear Avery sneeze and toot followed by a YELP from Evan and then a "Oh, God, SHE POOPED ON ME!".

I could only lean over to see over the coffee table but once I saw this I grabbed the camera and snapped this shot then was in tears from laughing so hard and it hurting so bad to laugh that hard.

Evan was so torn, he wanted to jump in the shower immediately and yet had to finish changing her since I couldn't get up at the moment to help him. We still laugh about it.

Was it something I said?

Over 4 posts and no love at all?! Is it something I said? Maybe I'm annoying you faithful readers with all this info about me and my likes.

Dually noted.

More snow expected tomorrow.  I'll take one day of it rather than 4.

Day 6-A picture of the person you would like to trade places with for a day

Oh the many, many people that popped into my head for this post. Who would I want to be for a day? I could go in so many directions...a world leader, a celebrity, an animal, a fictional character.....

You can actually google in the phrase "most envied celebrities" and a list pops up...*shakes head* needless to say, I'm not going in that direction.

If I could trade places with someone for a day I would have to say it would be Esther from the Bible. I love any rendition of that story in movie form. But it's one of my favorite books in the Bible.

How she saves her people from Haman.. well the summarized version I can give is that The king of Persia divorced himself from his queen. He was also against Jews. He ordered a search for the most beautiful girl in his kingdom to be found so he could marry her. This was Esther. She was Jewish. Her family asked her not to tell her religion. One of the kings closest advisers was named Haman. He was trying everything possible to get rid of the Jews. He convinced the king to sign a proclamation to kill all the Jews on a certain date. Esther went to him, and asked him to spare her people. He did, and Haman's wickedness was shown to all. Haman died on the gallows he had ordered built to kill Jews.

If you are a romantic then I suggest you watch the movie "One night with the King". But I can dive into Esther and Ruth and Jeremiah and get the same warm and tingles. :)

So yeah, if that counts...I'd say I'd like to see what it was like for her, that struggle with her heart and her people..as a Jewish women and as a new wife (to a non-Jewish King no less).

It was either her or Jane Austen. I'm such a history nerd.

Day 5- A picture of your favorite memory

Day 5 is a little tricky. I mean a favorite memory?! I don't have just ONE favorite memory and trying to pick one from the millions of blessings in my life is just down right RIDICULOUS. So I sat for a bit and tried to think of my top 5 and then I tried to figure out if I have any pictures to reflect them and this is what I came up with.

#5- I do not have a picture handy to show this, I have some of the week it happened and the events that followed but they are in a box somewhere but it is a very special memory for me. June 27, 1998*
The day I became a Christian. I was at a church camp with my youth group from South Euless Baptist Church out in Glen Rose Texas. I was 12 years old. I clearly remember this week because the camp was on this huge hill and my asthma was brutal, add that to the fact that I left my only tennis shoes at my aunts house and only had a pair of strappy sandals to wear in all the uphill terrain (not fun). The speaker of the camp that week had this funny way of turning popular songs into funny songs about things that had happened at camp and I got to sit with him at dinner every night. On the 4th night, his message for some reason just screamed at me and for a 12 year old, getting and holding my attention ..yeah that's big. I don't necessarily remember the message, but I remember the way I felt. I was shaky, crying, nervous and yet had this warmth inside me that I can't explain. When it was time for dedication I didn't say a word to my youth group but just stood up and made my way to the front of the alter where I bumped into a guy from the cabin next to us, he was crying too and we sat and prayed together. He prayed for me which I thought was odd because after he prayed for me he thanked God for letting me be the person to share this awesome moment in his life that he'd never forget. He became my partner for the 2 days left of camp and we had the same camp staffer who talked over what it meant to be saved. When my youth leader found out I had accepted Jesus into my heart he came into the girls cabin and plopped me out of my top bunk and gave me this huge hug, him and his wife were so happy for me and thought I was already saved so it was a nice surprise to them. Anyways, I was baptised by my uncle who happened to be the Assistant Pastor of the church 3 weeks later and my friend from camp (Nathaniel) mailed me cards and letters for 2 years after that. (last I remember he moved to Colorado our freshman year of HS and I never heard from him again.)

#4- The first time all 5 of my siblings met face to face December 2007- Austin, TX I do have a picture of that night but not available right now so I'll post these.
See any resemblances?
It's no huge secret about my upbringing, My paternal grandparents raised me and my brother Jonathon. My aunt and Uncle raised my other brother. My sister was adopted out to distant relatives and the youngest of us was raised by my birth parents. The 5 of us are a lot alike and at the same time, far from it. Jonathon, Joshua, Jackye & I always knew each other and got to see each other a lot. Desiree lived in Iowa and North Carolina and I wasn't told about her until I was 13. Having us all together some day was a huge dream of mine. After I got engaged to Evan he started helping me search for her but my father didn't know anything about the adoption proceedings or how to get in touch with her parents and my birth mother refused to help me in any way so it was a hard and emotional search. About a year and a half after I was married I started the search again and this time it was my brother Josh who found Desi and of all the craziest places... MYSPACE! After 3 months of emails, phone calls, letters and web chatting we finally agreed to meet up. Desi and I look alike and Jonathon and Jackye look alike leaving Josh this blend of us. I'll never forget the drive to Austin to meet Desi with my brothers and sister and Evan all piled in the car. Desi's father is a professor/scientist at University of Texas in Austin and Desi visits him from North Carolina twice a year so right before Christmas we agreed to meet up. It was like we were never separated! We went to eat at Carinos and laughed and laughed and laughed. After dinner we went bowling and got to know more about each other. It was weird how much we just meshed like there wasn't a 17 year gap of our lives.

#3 My trip to Europe June 2000- I have pictures on my FB of this since this post is getting a bit longer than I had planned but yeah. When I was 15 I went to Europe for 2 weeks through my Humanities class at RHS. We toured England and France, had the best guide and my first sip of wine (a whole bottle) haha Hard to believe it's been 10 years ago. I wish I had paid more attention, taken more pictures and cherished it all more! Another reason it's on my list. I had my very first seizure on that trip while in London. That one event triggered a lot through my high school years full of medications, hospital visits, tests, lab work and being notorious at school for closing down a dance.

#2- My wedding Day! December 30, 2005. Pretty much a "duh" about why I would pick this memory. One of the best (top 3) days of my life. So many little things happened that could have made me go into a hysterical bride but now, those little imperfections are what made that day so wonderful and get me and Evan laughing all the time. I had a great group in my wedding party, some of the best people to have for friends.

And finally.....

#1- December 19, 2008 at 4:49pm. The moment I became a Mommy. I think until you've become a parent and held that tiny miracle in your hands and realized that God truly is amazing with his love for you or how you are now responsible for this tiny beings EVERYTHING that you just can't understand the instantaneous love connection you get or the protection you swear to your child. It becomes an obsession that rocks you to your core. It's also hands down the best job ever even though the hours are long, the emotions are high and you lose a lot of things you once loved (sleep, nice things, clean clothes, regular showers and occasionally your sanity) you'd do it again and again if you could. Ohhh I could go on for days about this! Easy to see why it's my number one right? How I adore you Avery Claire, the world knows that!

Welcome to Earth.

Thanks for going down memory lane with me.
-Brittnye

Day 4- A picture of your night

I figured I would show you my early morning yesterday and then pictures of my night. My family got a kick out of me taking pictures for my Blog, they just don't understand my love for it and for my readers. :p

So as I mentioned here in North Texas we've had a week of Snow and Ice. Which yeah we get occassionaly but nothing like this week! Here's a picture of Day 4 when the snow came in..
Yeah that's Campus theatre about 500ft in front of me and you could barely see it, the snow was coming down pretty hard. It's was so beautiful though, I had to go out in it.

Then there was dinner, a real splurge for us since Evan and I treated his parents to Texas Roadhouse. It's been a long time since we've enjoyed such good food and God blessed us with driving to get it and getting back on icy roads safely so you know it was meant to be. (or we're just dumb)

After dinner it was down to the "Night night" routine for Avery which was bath time, dance time, then book time then lights out.

Typical night for us.

After Avery went down I read my book for a few hours before passing out in the chair, so no picture of that but in all it's boring and routine glory, is a glimpse of my night.

Snow Days.

I'll get to my challenge blog in a bit but wanted to share some of the craziness of the last 4 days. Being a "Texan" I can tell you that we are known for a lot of things but one thing that we are NOT known for is SNOW....and...ICE.

Since Tuesday we have had several inches of ice put all of North Texas pretty much at a stand still, then last night...it snowed a good 7 inches! Add to it we've been BELOW freezing since tuesday and you get a bad combination.

1. Texans do NOT know how to drive in this stuff. (it's a fact)
2. With the Superbowl being this weekend in Arlington a lot of the areas resources for sanding and de-icing the roads were focused there rather than their own citys needs. I kid you not, the ice hasn't been handled at all.
3. Because of number 2 all schools only went on Monday. That's a record for school closings in a consecutive amount of days!
4. We're expecting more next week.
5. It was 81 last week and sunny.

That's Texas Ya'll.

Evan, Avery and I have been camped out at his parents place since Tuesday evening (our poor cats are in that cold house, I feel so guilty) and have been inside doing nothing pretty-much. How on earth did our pioneer ancestors do it?!

Today though, Evan and I took an offer of a free photo-shoot with an old high school friend on the Denton square. Oddly enough, it was still snowing when we went to do it! I highly recommend her for any of you Dentonites out there. Heather was fun, relaxed, creative and made it hardly seem like we were being photographed at all! Add that we haven't seen her in years and it made for a great hour of conversation, goofiness, coffee and THESE!

Just another perk of moving back to Denton, such wonderful people and places we Love.

Stay Warm America,
Britt & Co.

Day 3- A picture of the cast of your favorite show

I didn't have to think very hard for this one, granted, there are several shows I could deem as my "Favorite" but this one well,  it's never let me down.

Yup, *NERD ALERT* I am a HUGE, HUGE, H-U-G-E fan of Little House on The Prairie. I could watch this show everyday and never get tired of it. I still cry on a few episodes that ring with me and giggle with glee on the weekends when the Hallmark channel plays it. I remember when a channel we had on antenna our 1st year married had it on TWICE a day and I would plop on the couch with a blanket and zone out.

Evan makes fun of my "old lady habits" as he calls them.

Seriously though, what girl doesn't recall reading or having the Laura Ingalls books read to her growing up and not falling in love with Pa?! Even as an adult, I still love the books and I was even okay with the  newest movie version even though it wasn't legit all the way through. Meh.

haha, Don't even get me going on Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman......

Day 2- A picture of you with the person you have been closest with the longest

Meet Sara:

Sara and I have been friends since walking past each other in our neighborhood back in 1991. We didn't have a lot of options for friends in the trailor park and took pity on each other I guess. LOL. Sara and I hung out all the time even though in school we were in different spectrums of "coolness". Sara was always there for me though and we always had a good time. I used to stay days on end at her place and vice versa and we used to get into plenty of mischeif together. Later in High School though we sort of drifted apart but whenever I've been in need Sara somehow knew it and was always there for me. I have to say too in all honesty that if it hadn't been for Sara I would never have learned about how to be a girl, my grandma was super old-fashioned and never knew how to help me get into being a girl but Sara filled in all the gaps where they counted. I love her like a sister and my family considers her a part of ours. She was even in my wedding.

I have wayy too much blackmail info on her as well as incriminating photos.

I Love Ya Sara, Thanks for YEARS of friendships.
P.s.- Sorry I ran over your head with my gocart when we were 12.
